Abrikosov-Nielsen-Olesen strings from the Coleman-Weinberg potential

چکیده
We study properties of Abrikosov-Nielsen-Olesen (ANO) strings with the Coleman-Weinberg (CW) potential, which we call CW-ANO strings. While scale-invariant scalar potential has a topologically trivial vacuum admitting no at classical level, quantum correction allows nontrivial vacua and stable string solutions. find that system CW exhibits significant difference from conventional Abelian-Higgs model quadratic-quartic potential. single-winding is qualitatively similar in both systems, static intervortex force between two large distance attractive/repulsive type-I/II regime for both, structure. It develops an energy barrier them intermediate distance, implying winding number $n>1$ can constitute metastable bound state even type-II regime. name such superconductor type-$\overline{1.5}$. also discuss implications to high-energy physics cosmology.

Quantum oscillations of self-dual Abrikosov-Nielsen-Olesen vortices
In this paper we present some new results on the quantization of the self dual multi-vortex solutions of the Abelian Higgs model. We also take the opportunity to offer a detailed description of the concepts and techniques that allowed us to compute the one-loop quantum correction to the mass of self-dual Abrikosov-Nielsen-Olesen vortices with one quantum of magnetic flux in the Rapid Communicat...
متن کاملAn Effective String Theory of Abrikosov–Nielsen–Olesen Vortices
We obtain an effective string theory of the Abrikosov–Nielsen–Olesen vortices of the Abelian Higgs model. The theory has an anomaly free effective string action which, when the extrinsic curvature is set equal to zero, yields the Nambu–Goto action. This generalizes previous work in which a string representation was obtained in the London limit, where the magnitude of the Higgs field is fixed. V...
متن کاملExtrinsic Curvature Dependence of Nielsen-olesen Strings
It is shown how to treat the degrees of freedom of Nielsen-Olesen vortices in the 3+ 1dimensional U(1) higgs model by a collective coordinate method. In the london limit, where the higgs mass becomes infinite, the gauge and goldstone degrees of freedom are integrated out, resulting in the vortex world-sheet action. Introducing an ultraviolet cut-off mimics the effect of finite higgs mass. This ...
متن کاملFinal Project The Coleman – Weinberg Potential
The Lagrangian density in the problem is L = − 1 4 (F µν) 2 + (D µ φ) † D µ φ − m 2 φ † φ − λ 6 (φ † φ) 2 , (1) where φ(x) is a complex scalar field in four spacetime dimensions (except for part (h)), and we are interested in the theory when m 2 = −µ 2 < 0. The covariant derivative includes the vector potential D µ φ = (∂ µ + ieA µ)φ. (2) I don't know why they chose this funny normalization for...
متن کاملOn the Asymptotics of Nielsen-Olesen Vortices
We investigate analytically and numerically the asymptotic behavior of the Nielsen-Olesen vortex solutions and show that they approach their asymptotic values exponentially but with exponents that differ from the ones quoted in the literature. In particular, it is shown that for values of the Higgs self-coupling that are larger than a critical value, both the Higgs field and the gauge field app...
